Toshiba Libretto W1oo Has Not Yet Confirmed Price
As for the battery, that’s of the 8-cell variety. There is a single USB port on the device, there’s Bluetooth connectivity, and a webcam. A microSDHC card slot is also present. As for the price in Japan, that apparently hasn’t been decided on quite yet. However, Toshiba is still saying that it will cost $1,099 when it launches here in the States. When is that? Well, they said some time in the Summer, but obviously that may have to be thrown out the window.
The W100 (which is also known as the W105 outside Japan) weighs only 1.8 pounds, has two 7-inch capacitive touchscreen displays (with a resolution of 1024×600 pixels), runs on Windows 7 Home Premium, packs an Intel Dual core processor, 2GB RAM, a 62GB SSD, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a webcam, a microSD reader, a USB port and a 8-cell battery.
Toshiba has not yet confirmed a list price, but other reports have suggested it will initially cost between $1000 and $1400. That’s a bit steep in comparison to t he iPad, which retails between $500 and $850. But for a Windows-dedicated office, it’s definitely a better choice. Unfortunately, Toshiba hasn’t set a release date for the W100, which some industry observers expect late this summer.
Putting aside convertible laptops and the dual-screen Libretto W100, news of the upcoming Android tablet is the best evidence we’ve seen of Toshiba’s commitment to the tablet since 2009′s 7-inch JournE tablet, shown above. The timing of the proposed tablet is also worth noting, since it has the potential to beat the rumored Google Chrome tablet to market with a one-two month lead.
