You can watch a pair of California condors, among the most endangered birds in the world, as they raise a new baby in view of a webcam set up by scientists at the San Diego Zoo’s Safari Park.

Sisquoc and Shatash take turns sitting in their nest incubating an egg! Because every California condor egg is so important, their real egg has been removed for now to an incubator under the close watch of the keepers, while the parents take care of a life-like artificial egg. During the last few days of incubation, the real, fertile egg will be returned, and the parents will begin raising the chick. That’s expected to happen in March!

To date, 171 condors have hatched at the San Diego Zoo’s Safari Park since the California Condor Recovery Program started in the 1980s. Sisquoc, born on March 30, 1983, was the program’s first hatchling. At that time, there were only 22 California condors left in the world. Today, there are about 400 : Watch a Baby Condor Hatch and Grow on Live Webcam

The same webcam that gave wildlife enthusiasts a birds’ eye view of expecting barn owls is now documenting those eggs on the verge of hatching.

Starr Ranch Sanctuary Manager Pete DeSimone installed the webcam in the 100-foot tall eucalyptus tree to keep track of the birds, which hatched seven chicks last year. Now, hundreds of people are keeping an eye on a couple of barn owls who are about to become parents again.

The first egg began to hatch Friday morning, and the next egg will likely begin “pipping” in about two days.

Anyone can access the webcam by going to the sanctuary’s website.

Happy Feet has become a creature of the Internet age. The wayward emperor penguin, who was discovered on a New Zealand beach six weeks ago and will soon be returned to the wild, already boasts an online following of more than 120,000.

That’s how many unique visitors have logged onto a webcam set up to monitor his every movement. It’s expected thousands more will follow his progress after he’s released in the coming weeks, when feeds from a GPS tracker unit attached to his back will be posted online.

Then there’s all the chatter about him on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. It doesn’t seem to bother his followers that Happy Feet, nicknamed after the 2006 animated movie, does little more than eat, sleep and occasionally waddle.

“At 11:20 p.m. in New Zealand, Happy Feet was sound asleep with his left foot and flipper sticking out,” wrote one breathless Facebook fan. “Five minutes later, he pulled in his left foot and flipper and just got up! ”

The penguin was discovered June 20 on Peka Peka Beach, about 65 kilometres northwest of Wellington and far from his Antarctic feeding grounds. He was moved to the Wellington Zoo four days later after becoming ill from eating sand, which he likely mistook for snow. He has since gained weight and been given a clean bill of health to be returned to the ocean.Thousands of dollars have been raised by the zoo caring for the penguin that wound up on a New Zealand beach. It will soon be returned to the wild.Associated PressHis unusual journey has captured worldwide interest. Local television station TV3 set up a webcam on June 30 in the small, ice-filled room at the zoo where Happy Feet has been recuperating. The phone calls began coming in soon after. The zoo sent a veterinarian to check the penguin late one night after TV3 was swamped by worried callers convinced Happy Feet had died, said zoo spokeswoman Kate Baker. It turned out the penguin was sleeping.

Then there was the email TV3 received from Janet in Chicago, who said she was ill but took “a lot of comfort in simply watching the penguin.”

“It’s kind of like O. Henry’s story ‘The Leaf,”‘ she wrote. “I feel as long as the penguin does well, I’ll do well.” Thousands of dollars raised for penguin’s care

Gordon McBride, TV3′s Wellington bureau chief, said he and a colleague came up with the idea of the webcam. “When we asked the zoo, they said ‘Yep. Why not.”‘ McBride said. “It’s such an unusual thing, and people like to see that.”

Baker said that as a result of the “great response” to the webcam, the zoo is now considering live streaming other animals and the zoo’s medical procedures. Through a public campaign, the zoo has raised the $10,000 needed to cover the costs of housing Happy Feet, she said. It also has raised about $8,000 toward the cost of returning him to the sub-Antarctic ocean south of New Zealand, Baker said. That trip could cost up to $30,000.

She said the GPS tracker unit will likely stay attached only until Happy Feet molts next April and could come off sooner. The penguin also has had a microchip implanted in him which will be triggered if he roams near monitored colonies in Antarctica : Penguin followed by thousands on webcam.

The white sand beaches of Destin and Santa Rosa Beach are well suited for the annual turtle migration ad nesting season. This year, we get a great insight with a live stream camera with infra red lighting to witness the hatching.

Turtles hatch during a full moon cycle, so the case of the Henderson Park Inn nesting in Destin Florida should result in a hatch this year of August 13th. FLV Hosting is a leading provider of live streams, and has supplied the live stream as a cross promotion with 30a Television and Henderson Park Inn.

“We are excited to be able to bring live stream technology to such a wonderful nature event,” said Mike McGuinness, VP Sales at FLV Hosting. “This is an event that not many people get to experience during their lifetime, so we are very pleased to be able to make it accessible to everyone, regardless of their location.”

A super close up of the turtle nest is not completely practical to ensure the safety of the turtles, and the infra red camera and stream will not affect their proper hatching. Sometimes bright lights near the beach confuse turtles, who mistake the lights for the full moon, so head inland instead of the Gulf of Mexico. An infrared camera is used as it will not affect the turtles as they hatch and rush to the sea : Live Webcam Turtle Watch in Florida at Henderson Park Inn

Intimate details of the fascinating lives of these birds are being broadcast via a live webcam link by Dorset Wildlife Trust, which can be seen by viewers all over the world.

The barn owls whose lives went global last year have been joined by a pair of tawny owls Twit and Twoo. “It’s fantastic that people all over Dorset and across the world can watch the barn owls and tawny owls nesting at Lorton Meadows,” said conservation officer Sam Dallimore.

Bob and Brenda raised a brood of three owlets last year to the delight of all and are currently sitting on five eggs that are expected to hatch over the nest month. The cameras can be watched Now

High atop the One Capital Center building in downtown Boise sits a box with a camera mounted inside.

Any time of the day or night, you can click onto a Web page and view a live stream from the webcam on the 14th floor. It’s what’s occasionally inside the box that makes that click more interesting: wild peregrine falcons.

Sponsored by the Peregrine Fund, Idaho Fish and Game, and Fiberpipe, the Peregrine Falcon Webcam is available to the public for free.

Nicknamed the Falconcam, it went live on March 22. Already, two falcons can be seen flying into and out of the special area. According to the Peregrine Fund, these birds of prey are likely the same adults as last year.

Under the watchful eye of the Falconcam and the public, last year’s nest saw that adult pair produce four eggs in April. Three of those eggs hatched on May 24, with the fourth hatching a day later. You can sign up for updates on what’s happening in the nest and watch the live stream from the Falconcam.
