The City of Hesperia is hosting a live webcam of the rail construction near Mojave and G Avenue on their website.

In 1991, a camera was installed to capture pictures of the coffee pot in the Trojan Room of the old computer lab at the University of Cambridge!

The idea behind it was to allow people to see if there was still coffee without having to go from their respective departments/rooms to the pot!

The image was 128×128 feed of the famed coffee pot on the user’s desktop in grayscale. Years later, the ‘Trojan Room coffee pot’ was auctioned off on eBay for $5268.55!

Workers on camera are currently reviewing  petition pages.

The workers at the site are a combination of G.A.B. staff and temporary staff hired for this project. Work is currently proceeding during two shifts each day.

The camera is generally fixed in one position and is not controlled remotely or otherwise adjusted during the course of the day. The audio is turned off.

Each petition page is being reviewed by two separate reviewers to ensure each signature complies with legal requirements. The petitions are in packages of 50 pages.  These packages must be checked out and checked in each time they are reviewed. The results of these reviews will be tracked in a database. Additional checks (duplicates for example) will also be completed later in the process. Click here to watch the webcam.

The spectacular annual Up Helly Ya festival will for the first time be broadcast live around the world from Shetland via webcam tonight.

The Up Helly Ya festival is unique to Shetland and occurs every year on the last Tuesday in January to celebrate the end of Yule season (a sortof European end of Christmas celebration): Shetland Up Helly Ya Festival

The camera system compresses weeks of construction work into brief time-lapse videos and also posts two high-resolutions photographs every 30 minutes.

The dam’s height will go from 200 feet to 337 feet, making it the largest roller-compacted concrete dam raise in the world, according to the SDCWA. The project will more than double the capacity of the San Vicente Reservoir, allowing it to hold an additional 150,000 acre-feet of water.

Once the project is complete and the reservoir is refilled, the dam will be re-opened for recreational use, projected sometime between 2014 and 2017, depending on rainfall and supply and demand of water, according to Foster : San Vicente Dam Raise Webcam Construction
