Observed on one laptop, if you do not want to be observed” (or you wanted your laptop to be controlled from elsewhere). Which is why you can put a (French) stamp (“easy to remove”) on the camera.
This is an interesting example of these little signs of how users try to reclaim a form of control on digital technology. Even if the laptop has a LED that indicates whether the webcam is working on not, this user prefers to have a better control on this device. If you try it you can check your webcam at Webcam Test

The Elwha Dam webcam was back up and running Friday after the pole it was attached to fell over.
The utility pole, which was rotten, fell Thursday when workers removing other poles nearby removed a wire attached to it, said Brian Krohmer, Barnard Construction project manager.
A new pole was put in place, and the webcam was reattached at about noon Friday, he said. Barnard Construction of Bozeman, Mont., is removing the Elwha and Glines Canyon dams on the Elwha River as part of a $325 million restoration project. Webcams documenting dam removal can be viewed HERE

The Internet, at least the part within Russia, may slow down significantly on the day of March 4 presidential election if video cameras streaming live feeds from the field are installed at each polling station, Ilya Massukh, deputy head of the communications ministry told Russian business daily Vedomosti.
The questionable idea to install cameras in polling places was first brought up by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin during the annual televised phone-in with Russians. Mr. Putin suggested that this be done in response to the allegations that the December 4 elections to the parliament were rigged.
“The main communication links on the average transmit 70 gigabits per second in Russia, and this project, if you treat it head on will clog up almost 100 gigabits per second,” Vedomosti cited Mr. Massukh as saying
The last stage of maintenance work will be carried out between February 15 and March 1, and the cameras will be ready to go on March 1 according to the communications ministry website. Meanwhile, critics say a camera at each polling place may not do much to prevent fraud.

The same webcam that gave wildlife enthusiasts a birds’ eye view of expecting barn owls is now documenting those eggs on the verge of hatching.
Starr Ranch Sanctuary Manager Pete DeSimone installed the webcam in the 100-foot tall eucalyptus tree to keep track of the birds, which hatched seven chicks last year. Now, hundreds of people are keeping an eye on a couple of barn owls who are about to become parents again.
The first egg began to hatch Friday morning, and the next egg will likely begin “pipping” in about two days.
Anyone can access the webcam by going to the sanctuary’s website.
