Nursery’s hit webcam to go mobile for delighted parents

A WEBCAM link that allows parents to watch their children in nursery over the internet, could soon be available on mobile phones.

The pioneering NurseryCam scheme was introduced to reassure parents their tots are being well looked after at the Beach House Day Nursery in Rhyl.

It allows parents to log-in via a secure internet link to watch live web camera footage of the nursery on heir home or work computers.

The nursery was the first in Wales to pioneer the NurseryCam 19 months ago and placements were snapped up within days by parents craving peace of mind over child care.

Now, owner Helen Thomas said the scheme will be introduced into the nursery’s new after – school Beach House Fun Club.

And the technology is being developed to allow parents to log in on the go via their colour-screen mobile phones.

“We have nothing to hide,” said Ms Thomas.

“No matter how old your child is, you will still worry about them and so it will be good for people to keep an eye on their offspring.”

Mums and dads can view live images of their children at any time.

All live images are encrypted and protected by multi-layered security measures and can be accessed only by bona fide parents.

Mother Sue Roberts is sending her 10-year-old daughter to the new fun club opening next month.

She said: “We love the camera scheme, everybody thinks it is a great idea and in fact the very reason I am happy to leave my daughter there.

“It takes a great weight off your mind to know that your child is safe and that you can look in on them at any time, especially in the current climate where parents fear leaving their children in the care of others.”

A NurseryCam spokeswoman said: “Good nurseries have nothing to hide. NurseryCam allows parents to be more involved in their children’s developments.

“It also gives the nurseries the opportunities to showcase their wonderful services and further extends their open-door policy.”
