Czech Republic Nové Město
Nové Město pod Smrkem (Czech pronunciation: [ˈnovɛː ˈmɲɛsto ˈpotsmr kɛm]; German: Neustadt an der Tafelfichte) is a small town in the Czech Republic, four kilometers from the border with Poland. It has 4,050 inhabitants.
Nové Město pod Smrkem is situated in tourist region Frýdlant area between the Jindřichovice ridge and the mountain Smrk. It was founded in 1584 and its establishment is closely connected with mining of tin and other non-ferrous metal metals in its surrounding.
In the recent history the town was famous for its textile industry. The town is located 465 meters above sea level and has approximately 4000 inhabitants. The Frýdlant region is so far little discovered area, however it offers the opportunity to spend an active holiday in the middle of a beautiful nature at the bottom of the Jizera mountains. Nové Město pod Smrkem is perfect for cycling and hiking tours with the choice of many trips to the Jizera Mountains.
