Bonnie: Tropical storm warnings discontinued

The remnants of Tropical Storm Bonnie barely held onto tropical depression status Saturday morning, as what was left of the storm was sheared apart by atmospheric winds. The National Hurricane Center lifted all tropical storm warnings for the Gulf Coast.

Winds had dropped to 30 mph, and the only thunderstorm activity associated with the storm was in a small area to the north of the center. At 10 a.m. CDT, Bonnie was located at latitude 28.0 north, longitude 86.7 west. The depression was moving to the west-northwest at 17 mph. The center was expected to move inland somewhere between southeast Louisiana and Alabama. No strengthening of the storm is expected before landfall sometime Saturday night.

Isolated gusts to tropical storm force winds in squalls are likely to spread over portions of the northern Gulf Coast, from southeast Louisiana eastward to the far Western Florida panhandle later today.

Bonnie is expected to produce total rainfall accumulations of 1 to 2 inches over portions of Southern Louisiana, Southern Alabama, Southern Mississippi, and the far western Florida Panhandle, with possible isolated maximum amounts of 3 inches.
